Positivitrees

To mark 20 Years of the National Leaving Care Benchmarking Forum, we are asking member local authorities to plant a tree.

This tree symbolises -

  • their commitment to seeing care experienced young people grow and thrive.
  • a commitment to growing their local offer to care experienced young People.

We would love to see groups of care experienced young people, leaving care professionals and corporate parents getting together across the country to plant their Positivitree.

Hull is about to unveil its first Positivitree in Queens Gardens. Hopefully the first of many annual tree planting activities in Hull.

The Tree will be planted in memory of Mark Jones who sadly passed away in 2022. Mark was the former Director of Economic Development and Regeneration and the Strategic Lead for Care Leavers in Hull. Mark's support and leadership led to some big developments and offers of support for Care Leavers.

Part of Mark's legacy is our young peoples Hub - Room 42 home of our Regeneration Champions the Care Leaver Link UP and the Action 4 Us group.

Mark embodied what it takes to be an amazing corporate parent he was a shining example to everyone. We hope that this Tree will act as a catalyst to keep pushing for more commitment to supporting our young people to grow and thrive and keep growing our local offer to care experience young people.
